Jorge Lavoy (b. 1988, Havana, Cuba) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Florida. He graduated from the Manuel Saumell music school as a drummer and from the Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA) in theater. From this foundation in music and performance, Lavoy has expanded his practice to encompass painting, documentary and fine-art photography, film, television, music, mixed media, installation, and sculpture — an ongoing exploration of form and narrative across disciplines.
His parallel life as a financial trader gives the work its most distinctive thread: paintings in which a real gold session is transformed into abstract composition. It is a practice built on observation — of people, of screens, of the collective emotion that moves both audiences and markets.
